Praise The Lord!

24 Sep

Psalm 113 1-4

This is Margaret Wilson’s favourite verse.

In all things and at all times “Praise the Lord” for He alone is worthy to be praised.

Have a blessed week.

A Beautiful Fragrance

17 Sep

2 Corinthians 2 14-15

This is Moira Hubbard’s favourite scripture. I hope and pray you are blessed and encouraged by it. May we go into this week with the aim of being a beautiful fragrance to those around us, bringing the beauty and sweetness to the lives of others because of our knowledge of The Saviour.

Be Joyful, Pray, Give Thanks

10 Sep

1 Thess 5 16-18

My prayer for us is that we can put these verses of encouragement into practice in our lives.

Joy is a gift from God. Not based on our feelings or what we are going through.

We can receive joy from our Lord every day. In fact, His Word also tells us that His joy will be our strength. Thank You Lord for joy!! (& strength!)

Never stop praying… that’s simply a privilege to live in 24/7 intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. Talking to Him (whether out loud or in our minds/spirits) throughout our day & listening to Him – as He loves speaking to us each day!

And be thankful in all circumstances… sounds tough aye… but in actual fact it’s easy. When we are journeying the hard stuff, we can be so thankful that He’s with us… that He gives me strength, peace, joy, love, comfort, wisdom, provision, friends, family… and the list goes on!
So be encouraged with these verses today.

And why not read the whole chapter of 1 Thess 5… it’s great!

Plus, if you missed Libby Huirua’s message on Sun morning 20th August at Activate Hamilton… have a listen through our Church app or website.

Be blessed!

Our Father

3 Sep

Psalm 68 5

As I write this, we are in our last hours of Father’s day in New Zealand. It is a great day to celebrate the men in our lives who have lead us and guided us and had a positive impact on the person we are now and the person we are becoming. Sadly though, there are many of us who either don’t have a father or don’t have a positive experience from the father we do have. Statistics tell us that nearly a 3rd of  New Zealand children grow up in a fatherless home.  There are 20 confirmed cases of child abuse or neglect happening per day, in many cases this is by an influential male family member. That is a lot of people who need to know what a real father is like.

The good news, the gospel truth, is that we have the most loving father in the world. Whether we have experienced security in the house or abuse, we have a father who will never stop loving us. He will never leave us and He will never forsake us. He created a whole universe and set us in it for His pleasure and He takes delight in us, no matter how much of a brat we may sometimes be.

The next verse after Psalm 68:5 tells us that He sets the lonely in families. He cares for us. It is sometimes hard to believe when the storms are swirling around us and within us but it is true. He is there. Reach out to Him and ask for His loving embrace, His caring provision. He will never deny those who seek Him with all their hearts. Then it will be a truly happy father’s day.
